Sunday Funday in the Snow!

This weekend, my boyfriend and I went to his parents' house to enjoy the Christmas markets and a weekend away from the city. Snow started to slowly drizzle down in Paris on Friday night but it was nothing compared to the wintery white wonderland that welcomed us.
After Saturday night's snow storm, which I found exceptionally exciting being from Miami and never having really seen heavy snow fall, Sunday was full of fun activities - snow fights, snow angels and snow men included.

red doors

A few weeks ago, the hallways of the building were painted. The walls went from hot hot pink to pale, cotton-candy purple and the doors went from a muddy brown to a very vibrant red. Although I'm not entirely sure who came up with these odd color combinations, I was very excited to try out the doors for outfit posts as a change from the balcony.

retro-posting

These pictures date back to last Monday - before I was infected with viral plague, before the snow fell, before the week got the best of me and while the London weekend magic was still fresh in my memory.
This weekend was equally bursting with Christmas magic, putting up our first tree together and starting the gift-hunting/buying process. Let the Christmas magic continue!!

raindrops on roses ...

... and whiskers on kittens ...
I'm officially in a superrrr Christmas mood! All day I watched snow pile up on the light post outside the office and though of how much more magical the holiday season is when everything is covered in a blanket of white.
This cold weather makes me want to turn on plenty of warm candles and watch the Christmas classics like Elf and Love Actually and make Christmas-y treats for later. Tonight on the menu was homemade pumpkin soup and for a just-before-bed treat, an ultra peppermint-y tea.

Christmas really is all around - Here are a couple of pictures from out winter weekend getaway to London where the store windows and decorations were enough to have us dreaming of dancing sugar plums!

sparkle and shine

I made a simple outfit made fun with little hints of holiday glimmer yesterday, adding a fun headband and little jewels..and polka dot tights that add a tiny touch of excitement to this all black ensemble.

once upon a december

It's here! The snow and December are finally here! The days are short, Christmas lights dot the streets and there's a king of magic in the air that only comes once a year.
These are the simple things that I'm looking forward to and that are sure to make this a December to remember!

thanksgiving for two

I remember being in middle school and reading Oy Joy by Lucy Frank and getting teary-eyed in the part where they go see the balloons be inflated for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was like the personification of the exact feeling of anticipation I feel for that last Thursday of November.
Thanksgiving has always been, for me, one of the best holidays of the year. I love watching the parade in the morning, the smells, the family, the feeling that the holidays are right around the corner ... Although this isn't the first time I spend the holiday far from home, it's definitely the first time I find myself missing the drive home from college and the overall feeling of family that surrounds the day.
Last week, I cooked up a Thanksgiving feast for two, took out my autumn table dressings (not many) and introduced one of my favorite holidays to my boyfriend, making this year's dinner a very Franco-American affair.

... now on to Christmas decorations!

twists and turns

This morning I thought I would have enough time to take my outfit posts to avoid having the same self-timed pictures from the balcony once again, but the only thing I had time for after pressing the snooze button three thousand times was this one quick shot in the elevator. I'm not sure why, but all day I felt like it was later in the week, somewhere along the lines of Thursday. It would seem I'm in for a long three days - luckily I like what I do every day to not mind so much.

winter white

The cold snap is definitely snapping!! Our warm apartment is a faux friend in the morning, and I find myself wishing I had opted for an extra layer once I get downstairs and on my way.
I'm not sure what it is about the cold, but there are two extremes that come with it - the one where all I want to do is stay in warm pj's and plush slippers watching movies all day and the one where I get extra excited to go out into the cold and put on my best winter wear.
