black and tan

Printed pants are probably one of my favorite additions to this summer's wardrobe especially considering the weather patterns in Paris. I like that I can pair them with a tank or a warmer top option and still feel as summer-y. I hesitated for a long time before deciding to take this scaly pair home, partially because I didn't know if I would wear them much. While it took me a few weeks to get them out of the closet, I think I've given them a run for their money and look forward to wearing them through early fall!

Bastille Day

Bastille Day always makes me think of dancing in the streets and fabulous Parisian magic à la Audrey Hepburn and William Holden in Paris When it Sizzles. But under a rainy, slightly chilly Saturday, we opted for a trip to the Invalides where all the trucks and military machines that paraded down the Champs Elysées were parked for display. It was probably a little more exciting for monsieur than for moi, but I'll admit, I did have a little fun pretending to drive the jeeps!
Paris put on its dancing shoes for Saturday's fireworks show - we watched it from our magnificent balcony with the perfect view, but walked by the disco ball clad Eiffel Tower on the way back to take a peek at the pre-festivity action.

weekend play to workday

Whenever I get something new, I'm worse than a child - even if it's the simplest little thing, like this new Breton stripe tee, I feel like I need to wear it all the time. Using the same colors and general look idea, I transitioned my tee from Sunday afternoon for a stroll around the city to Monday for a day at the office. Changing jeans for black pants, a wicker basket for a real purse and adding a few inches to the height of my heels did the trick for a smooth transition from play to work.

patriotic

The day after July 4, I was still feeling a little bit patriotic. It might have been the lack of fireworks or of feeling the summer magic that inevitably rules the air on that day, but I woke up this morning feeling just as patriotic as yesterday and let it show in my outfit of the day. I guess it's ok, red, white and blue is after all not so far away from the bleu, blanc, rouge of the French flag, and Bastille day is right around the corner!

summer on the horizon

Sunshine and warmth seem to have finally decided to settle in Paris these last few days. With the instant warmth, comes an endless list of summer dreams and plans. Here are a few of mine:

- evening walks after work to remind ourselves how beautiful the city is
- rooftop apéros at sunset
- terraces, terraces, terraces - for lunch, for drinks for dinner
- picnics and good reads
- watermelon sorbet, and other attempts at using the ice cream maker
- evening swims
- weekend trips
- lots of white
